DSI’s 2nd Annual FutureG for Defense Summit will bring together DoD, Federal Government, Industry & Academic leaders in a ‘Town-Hall’ style event to detail various initiatives surrounding 5G and wireless networking technologies. This must-attend two-day event seeks to discuss the objectives and goals around the adoption of groundbreaking commercial 5G and the future generations of network technology (NextG) in support of Warfighter. 5G offers faster speeds, and more bandwidth, and can support increasingly demanding technology like Artificial Intelligence, making its implementation critical.
The implementation of 5G and NextG is crucial to ensure U.S. technological power and was designated as one of fourteen critical technology areas by OUSD R&E. Over $650 million has been put into the implementation of 5G and Next-generation wireless technology by the DoD. Commercial telecommunication companies spend an estimated $100 billion a year on research and development. To stay at the tactical edge, greater cooperation between both the private sector and the government is critical to integrating 5G and FutureG capabilities. Bridging this gap between government and industry is a major priority for the DoD.
